ONE WAY TO LOOK AT IT

“Tragedies and natural disasters generally cause a revival of faith and its corresponding plea for a swift return to what we sense as “normality’, but has anyone considered that there might be another way to view such tragedies and disasters?”
From the book “God May Not always be Right but He is Never Wrong” by Louis Low, PhD.
“Let us look at the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill” said the Professor as he did away with the last piece of a delightful breaded cutlet and its regulation forkful of fried potato slices. “Here we have the biggest oil spill ever experienced, due to the obvious incompetence of a major oil company. Then, we have a demented media that paints the event as another festival where “healthy” discussion is encouraged by pseudo experts and many of those who could not tell a teaspoon of crude oil from a teaspoon of that fabulous Lobster Bisque a la Marco!”
“What is the alternative?”
“For one thing, stop crying about it and accept the event as another natural expression of a superior will and do what is necessary to obtain relief. God had a hand in it. It compels some of us to look at it as the beginning of a major “fertilization” program resulting from the oil spill and its effect on the shore lines, estuaries and marshes of the entire Gulf of Mexico!”
“Kindly explain, Prof.”
“It is a negative take on us, my friend. It appears that such event answers to our indifference to the beauty and peace provided by the entire gulf. Not forgetting the varied and fascinating wildlife that adds color and life to the entire region. It is like saying that all the beauty and charm of the area have been wasted on us, its inhabitants.”
The Professor smiled and then added:
“I look forward to the many years I will enjoy traveling to the ooze in search of some new life form that thrives in the oil-rich fertilized soil and water. I will praise God when I see the first indications of new life. I just hope the new life form doesn't kill me! Or eat me!”
